Finger Pointing Time

This is my finger and I know how to use it! You may think it strange to see such a statement here, but I’ve been training Macy since we all moved in together. It’s hard to believe it’s only been 1 1/2 weeks since we all began this new adventure.

Macy is doing splendidly considering she’s had 6 months of bad behavior to unlearn. (She listens to Me cause I’m so mean.) I “pop” my finger on her muzzle and tell her “No bites!” At first it didn’t work very well, but now I can point my finger at her and she knows she’s in trouble. She’s slowly starting to respond that way to Bernard too. It doesn’t always work, but it’s only been since April 22!

This photo of her was taken when she kept barking. I’d point my finger and she settled down; as soon as I stopped pointing she get up and bark some more. We did this for about 10 minutes until she finally realized mean ol’ moi’ was going to win AGAIN! Such is the life of a puppy when you ‘re dealing with a “mean” human.

I believe Pavlov had a theory on this. Yep, dog, like children, need the structure. They need to know their place in the pack.
