I See You

Kwan Hi Lim (known by most as Lt. Tanaka on Magnum P.I. from 1982 – 1987) appeared in many episodes of the original Hawaii Five-O series.  The first time I recently heard his voice I was surprised because I had not realized that I’d been watching him for years, but that’s what happens when you allow people to come into your life — even if they are only on your tv.  I spent quite a while trying to find him after recognizing his voice — and it was difficult — because he wasn’t speaking any more lines, but eventually I found him.  He hadn’t changed much over the years:  a little less hair, but on Magnum that was hidden by the cap he wore, and a few more wrinkles graced his face that really weren’t that noticeable, at least not to someone who has wrinkles “gracing” her face.  (Some folks just do seem to age better than others).  Now whenever I watch the original Hawaii Five-O I look for him and smile because it evokes such happy memories of sharing all those 1 hour Hawaii visits with Mom…
