The BirdmanThere was ample time on the long journey to reflect on his fate. Banished from his own world by his own people, and for what? For being different! Whereas the rest of his race were conditioned for war, he was a pacifist, a seemingly lone voice of resistance, refusing to conform and join the fighting forces.

His trial had been a farce, as he expected, the outcome predetermined. His punishment – to be launched out into the heavens in the solitary confinement of his small vessel, never to return.

That was long ago. Then came last night – the vessel’s unplanned landing in the bushes of this very green planet known as Earth had been a little bumpy, but he had survived. Taking his first exploratory walk in his new surroundings, he came across a first sign of life. A friendly species, small and with wings, living in the trees.
