The Fence

This is a 99 word flash fiction piece I wrote when I discovered this photo on another website.   (This photo was the prompt for what is called Friday Fictioneers, http://rochellewisofffields.wordpress.com/friday-fictioneers-2/  but I could not resist it.)  I hope you enjoy it.  Now see what you can do;  write a 100 word flash fiction story.

The white painted fence looked out of place in the mist of its surrounding decay.  How had this happened?  Once the homestead had been so beautiful:  with fields of glowing corn that could be seen for miles.  Now that was gone because of the depression.  No money was available to buy the seeds to plant the corn, let alone repaint.  The painted fence had been a lure; an attempt to convince the bank to lend more money, but that too had failed.   Eventually the fence would again match the barn, but no one would see it; let alone care…
