My Pad

Well I’m in my 2nd month living in Ozark, AL and am slowly getting used to the changes.  There seems to be crime here, but I’m sure it’s not as bad as Dothan.  I moved from the boondocks where there was no one around; so naturally this change is a bit difficult for me.  Yesterday I went to the store and about 1/2 mile north on 231 the Shell gas station was surrounded by crime tape.  I had to watch the evening news to find out what had happened and the station had been robbed — that’s about 3/4 mile from where I live!  Right after I moved into my apartment, a restaurant about 2 blocks away was robbed and the owner was stuffed inside her car trunk!.  Last week the police were here looking for the restaurant robbery suspect.  That was a bit unnerving — seeing flashing police lights across the street for over an hour — but as I said I have to get used to this because this is where I now live.  I have the police on speed dial on my phone; so perps BEWARE!

Accidentally stayed out past dusk yesterday, and discovered I can manage to drive around here after dark, but truly hope I won’t be doing it very often because I get really tired and my eyes hurt due to all the needed mental concentration.  I stopped in Hardees to purchase a mushroom and swiss burger with extra pickles and would you believe the burger had to be redone because the pickles were left off after I repeatedly said with extra pickles!  I was so p.o.’d because I only repeated the order about 6 times.  Anyway that’s why I was late getting home.  The hard part was turning off 231 to get to my apartment, but I did it.  Perhaps I’ll even get brave enough to venture into Dothan after dark sometime soon.  Onward…

  1. That all sounds rather scary. Stay safe and remember to place your orders with at least 7 repeats for extra pickles 😀

FB posts show more and more home invasions; so I’m fortunate because there are so many people living here in the apartment complex. I probably should give up pickles on my mushroom & Swiss burgers, but I love em too much.

  2. Wow, that does sound scary, so stay safe and be aware of your surroundings! And keep the pickles! You shouldn’t have to repeat yourself 6 times! 🙂
