Panic Attack

A terrible pain is in my heart

or is it indigestion?

It moves from side to side

as I struggle to breathe

gasping in air

willing myself to Calm Down

but to no avail.

My heart now pounds so loudly

that I throw my palms over my ears

But the sound increases ten fold

like a hammer striking an anvil

I grab the aspirin bottle

and chaw down on a sour pill

like a Hillbilly would tobacco.

As this God awful taste

permeates my mouth

the pounding slowly subsides

and I get on

with my so-called life.

I completely understand what you’re getting at on this piece… well written.

Thank you mrprose. Seems like the older we get the harder it is to control our wandering minds, especially in the middle of the night. Good thing it only takes about 4 sips of vino to put me to sleep. Regards, Sandra 🙂 🙂
