A Step Away

August 2 is Mom’s birthday and I dedicate this poem to her and Dad and smile as I remember them dancing around the living room to the sounds of the record player.

Love and miss ya,

 A Step Away

Lets put on the rockabilly

and two-step the night away

Or does Hawaiian music

sound better

to remind us of our trip there?

Or does a waltz or tango

get you in the dancing mood?

Cause once we dance

Romance is just

a step away.

  1. This brought a tear to my eye. It’s such a sweet image watching them dance without a care in the world. 🙂

Mom & Dad loved to dance and when they couldn’t go out they just danced at home. Actually that’s how I learned about Big Band music and Broadway show tunes. Such fond memories…

      • I’m the same way. I grew up listening to Broadway show tunes because of my grandparents. Happy birthday to your mom, and to you (because I read it’s this weekend). 🙂
