Writing is hard work, and anyone who can sit down and write wonderful, creative stuff right away has my admiration. I have heard of people who are that creative, and I so envy them. But for me, it’s just plain hard. I remember Dad saying long ago that the reason why he didn’t want to be a writer was because: “I don’t want to work that hard.” Now I understand what he meant, but when I was a child I was amazed that he could stand before me and create rhymed verse so easily. He was that gifted. He could have been a famous author, but he didn’t want to work that hard.
I don’t want to work that hard either, but must if I ever expect to accomplish my goals, which brings me to the happy announcement that I FINALLY got my movie trailer script finished and submitted to the movie trailer contest. I had planned to write a trailer on a concept I thought up, but decided to write one on a script that I had submitted to the Page Awards Contest in 2010. The script was in the top 25%, but the 2nd judge who read it thought my vampire/human love story The Taming Of The Blood was a horror story where I saw it as a Twilight type love story for older adults. Afterall us “old fogies” need love too!
This chore was more difficult than I had imagined, but I finally got it finished and sent. Luckily I had the completed script for reference. So now I wait. Wish me luck My Readers, for who knows maybe: Somebody will want to read my finished script. Don’t give up on your dreams — just plan on a L-O-N-G, bumpy road to get there!
