Yesterday’s Gone

Oh how I wish for younger days!

‘Twas yesterday, or so it seems

When I moved with grace and ease.

Now I plod along with labored gate

Supported by my cane…

‘Twas yesterday when shades shielded my eyes

And gave me an air of mystery.

Now my glasses are thick to enlarge the field

Of what I struggle to see…

And nothing shields me from the light

For without it I cannot see.

Oh how I wish for younger days…
