Beginnings

Chicago’s song “Beginnings” is one of my favorite songs, and so appropriate for yesterday.  You see yesterday was my one and only child’s wedding.  Bernard Jr. and Alexa had a lovely ceremony at the Probate Court’s office in downtown Dothan, AL.  Later that evening a small reception was held for them.

The kids had planned on a small wedding, and that’s what they got.  I wish more of the relatives could have celebrated with them, but schedules often times cannot be changed.

There were many amusing moments during the day such as when Bernie had his tie tied too short and his uncle attempted to retie it.  It was funny to watch these two men struggling to hurry and redo something that seems so simple, but every time they tried it just looked worse.  Finally Alexa’s sister used her cell phone to connet to youtube and my little love watched a “how to tie a tie” video.

I chuckled at that moment remembering all the things he had learned over the years watching tv and using the computer, but I must admit learning how to tie a tie was the last thing I expected on his wedding day.  By the evening the tie looked perfect because he told me he had rewatched the video again and again and practiced repeatedly until he had it perfect.  Now that he and his new bride are married, betcha they’ll do the same with a bunch of other things!
